自己紹介:
Hello!! I am Sabina!! I am originally from Bangladesh🇧🇩! After finishing my university-level education, I went to Australia for further studies. After living in Australia for almost eight years, I came to Japan to work as a researcher. For the initial four years, I worked at the University of Tokyo. Since 2015, I have been working at my current workplace, the Innovation Center of NanoMedicine (iCONM), as a Senior Research Scientist.
I naturally like to take on challenges. Like, the traditional Japanese doll, Okiagari-Koboshi, I quickly stand up whenever I endure a fall or failure. The motto of my life is “Patience and Persevere.”
My current research topic is finding a cure for life-threatening diseases like cancer using nanomachines. This is indeed a tough challenge, isn’t it!! But when you have such a big challenge as your work goal, your work is always thrilling, which motivates you to keep trying and not give up.
I feel lucky to be able to work in a profession that always excites me and fulfills my passion and enthusiasm.
研究者になろうと思ったきっかけ:
I was a curious child. I used to ask the question “WHY” numerous times to the people around me. I was good at Mathematics and Science in school. Maybe all these worked as catalysts for me to choose scientific research as a profession. During my university-level studies, I became passionate about using chemistry for human well-being.
科学者として実現したい夢:
I want nobody to die from diseases. If a disease is identified, I hope there will be a successful treatment to combat it.
趣味:
Gardening/planting- I become delighted when I see a new leaf or flower bloom. Gardening is important to me for more reasons than only its aesthetic value; it also makes me feel good to know that I’m contributing to the well-being of other living things.
