The 11th Cross Cultural Event Held

On September 5th (Monday), we held an exchange event via Zoom for foreign researchers and Japanese researchers/staff at iCONM. This event was organized as a joint initiative by the iCONM Administration Department and the COINS Secretariat. With the conclusion of Project COINS, we aim to promote inner communication among all individuals utilizing iCONM starting from the fiscal year 2022.

This time, Makoto Shimazaki, Communications Manager in iCONM, presented "Landscapes in the History of the Transfer of the Capital ~Focusing on Nara and Kyoto~" in English, weaving in the historical context of the capital relocations. Unlike previous events that primarily featured introductions from foreign researchers, this event was the first installment of a "Project to Introduce Japan," responding to requests from foreign researchers who expressed a desire to learn more about Japan. Starting from the Naniwa Palace in the Kofun period, the presentation covered Asuka, Heijo-kyo, and Heian-kyo, providing insights into their history alongside photos of temples and landscapes. The event proved to be informative for both foreign participants and Japanese attendees.

After the presentation, there was a lively exchange of questions and feedback, making it an enjoyable opportunity for cultural understanding. We hope this will further foster exchanges that transcend language and professional boundaries.
