The 3rd Practical Training Program for Fifth-Year Pharmacy Students Interning at Pharmacies in Kawasaki Conducted at iCONM.

A practical education training session for fifth-year pharmacy students, organized by the Kawasaki Pharmacists Association,
was held at iCONM as the third and final session of this fiscal year. Thirty-eight students interning at local pharmacies in Kawasaki City participated. The program followed the same structure as the previous session held on May 12.

The program included:

1. Introduction to iCONM/CHANGE
2. Overview of nursing duties
3. Lecture on advocacy activities by a pharmaceutical company
4. Tour of the iCONM facility
5. Networking session with speakers and researchers

During the session, the lecture on interprofessional collaboration by Ms. Yagi, Executive Director of the Kawasaki Nursing Association, resonated with the concept of cross-cultural exchange that defines iCONM’s Magnet Area. In the networking session, participants discussed the importance of developing multiple areas of expertise throughout their careers. They learned that rather than dividing roles strictly by profession—particularly between pharmacists and nurses—it is essential to prioritize the benefits of patients and care recipients and to value overlapping responsibilities that contribute to better care.
