The 25th Cross Cultural Event Held
On March 24, the 25th Cross Cultural Event was held, featuring Carla Alvarez Gordi, an intern from the UIC Barcelona to iCONM Kataoka-Kinoh Lab. Known as the land of passion, Spain draws around 100 million tourists each year, making it the second most popular tourist destination in the world, right after France. While Spain has a rich history as a great empire, Carla's presentation highlighted its incredible cultural diversity.
For instance, Spanish isn't just a single, pure language; it has various regional dialects influenced by neighboring languages like French and Portuguese. When it comes to cuisine, "paella" is often the dish that represents Spain, but it comes in many regional variations. Interestingly, the paella served in Spanish restaurants tends to be quite simple, which can catch tourists off guard, as they might expect it to be loaded with colorful vegetables or surimi (imitation crab). Its appearance may seem understated and not typically Spanish, but the authentic seafood paella is truly exceptional in flavor. Some attendees even expressed a desire to be invited to a paella party in the near future.
