The 30th Cross Cultural Event was held.

On October 8, iCONM held a Cross-Cultural Event for its staff members, facility users, and representatives from Kawasaki City and the Kawasaki Industrial Promotion Foundation. For this session, two international internship students, Mr. Didar Mamedov and Ms. Lale Orazgulyyeva, introduced their home country, Turkmenistan—sharing its culture, tourist attractions, and information about their university, the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan.

Mr. Mamedov began by introducing Ashgabat, the capital city known as the “White City.” The city is renowned for its beautiful streets lined with buildings made entirely of white marble, as well as numerous striking monuments scattered throughout. Even from the slides, participants were impressed by the brilliance of the white cityscape and the grandeur of its architecture.
He then spoke about the Darvaza Gas Crater, a natural gas field measuring about 60–70 meters in diameter and around 30 meters deep. To prevent the spread of harmful gases, the site was set on fire decades ago—and it has continued to burn for over 50 years. Its mesmerizing glow has earned it the nickname “The Gate of Hell.”
His presentation also included a variety of topics such as Turkmenistan’s world-famous traditional carpets and the Carpet Museum, as well as the discovery of dinosaur footprints on limestone plateaus, providing participants with a rich and fascinating overview of the country.

Next, Ms. Orazgulyyeva introduced their university, the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan. The university offers diverse programs including Green Chemistry, Ecological Biotechnology, Cyber Physics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Computer Programming, and Artificial Intelligence. It also hosts events where students and young researchers present their ideas and research outcomes.
She then spoke about Turkmen food culture, introducing traditional dishes such as pishme (fried bread) and dograma (a soup made by simmering lamb and bread in lamb broth). Among these, camel’s milk especially caught the participants’ attention for its high nutritional value and use in various dairy products such as cheese.

Through presentations on Turkmenistan’s cityscapes, tourist attractions, and culinary traditions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the country from multiple perspectives.
iCONM and the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote collaboration in education and research. Continued active exchange and mutual understanding between the two institutions will play an important role in fostering future innovation.
